First things first

By druidyear

Just by entering this world, we’re marked to experience cycles of change.  One marker of change is the moon, and tonight I celebrate its fullness, remembering all things in this world are born, live and die, fulfilling themselves in time.   We both welcome change and fear it, longing for the “way things used to be,” then complaining about the “same old thing.”  With the full moon I will acknowledge all I’ve been given.  Caitlin Matthews’ A Celtic Devotional is a fine source that’s helped me sustain a habit of gratitude.  Here is one prayer from the book which I particularly like:

Nine waves around me,
Nine winds above me,
Nine paths within me,
Nine fires about me,
Nine wells beneath me,
Nine wisdoms given me,
Nine gifts bestowed on me,
Nine skills awoken within me,
Ninefold the blessing in either hand.
